Caregiver Pleads Guilty to Murder in NYC Boy's 2013 Death

A caregiver accused of fatally beating and starving a 4-year-old New York City boy has pleaded guilty to murder and assault charges.

Prosecutors announced the guilty plea of Kryzie King on Thursday.

The boy, Myls Dobson, was found unconscious in King's apartment in December 2013. Medical examiners ruled Myls died of child abuse, including dehydration.

King was caring for Myls while his father was jailed. His mother had lost custody.

Prosecutors say King admitted to repeatedly assaulting the child, including binding his hands and feet, striking him with an electrical cord and burning him with a hot toaster oven rack.

The case spurred changes at the city's child welfare agency.

King will be sentenced on Oct. 21.
