Car Slams Into Rite-Aid Drugstore, Hits Customer Inside

The elderly driver somehow lost control of her vehicle, police say

A car crashed through the front doors of a Rite-Aid drugstore in New Jersey Wednesday, hitting a customer inside, dramatic surveillance video obtained by NBC 4 New York shows.

The 71-year-old driver somehow lost control of her car and crashed through the store on Park Avenue in Rutherford at about 1 p.m., police say.

Michael Rosamilia works across the street and said he heard the crash.

"I look over and see all this glass everywhere, and everyone's surrounding the Rite-Aid. It was unbelievable," he said.

An 18-year-old woman was hit but she refused medical treatment at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries.

No charges are expected to filed against the driver. Investigators are checking her vehicle, police say.
