A building superintendent was struck by an elevator while he was in the shaft trying to retrieve keys for a tenant, authorities say.

The superintendent at 602 W. 190 St. was attempting to help a tenant retrieve their dropped keys, and was struck between the fifth and sixth floors at about 8:40 a.m., according to the New York Post

Emergency responders arrived and took the man to Harlem Hospital with head trauma, said police. He is in stable condition.
