The 25-year-old officer was sitting inside his car in front of 526 East 51st St. in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn when he was struck by a bullet at about 5:45 p.m., authorities said.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.

It's not clear whether he was a target. Police are searching for the gunman.
