Police say two plainclothes narcotics officers shot and wounded an armed 20-year-old man who fired at them on a Brooklyn street.

Police say the officers were sitting in an unmarked vehicle on Grafton Street conducting a buy and bust operation just after 6 p.m. Thursday when they saw the suspect pull out a firearm.

As the officers approached the suspect, police say he fired at them with a Colt .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun. The officers returned fire, striking him in the hand and buttocks.

A .45-caliber gun was recovered at the scene, a law enforcement official said.

The suspect is expected to survive, according to authorities. Charges are pending against him.
