Four people were hurt, including a baby suffering from smoke inhalation, when a fire broke out in an apartment building in the Bronx Thursday night, authorities say.

Firefighters were called to an occupied six-story building at 3915 Carpenter Ave. in Olinville at about 8:15 p.m. for a fire that started on the second floor, according to FDNY.

Many residents used their fire escapes to get out, witnesses said.

Four people were taken to Jacobi Hospital as a result of the fire, including the baby. Two were in serious condition and the other in critical condition.

The fire was extinguished, and authorities are investigating.
