Body Found on Brooklyn Waterfront Wearing ‘Cement Shoes' Is Identified

The body was discovered near Kingsborough College.

The man whose body was found in a plastic bag along the Brooklyn shoreline with his feet coated in concrete and hands bound behind his back has been identified, police said Wednesday.

Peter Martinez, 28, was a known gang member with at least 24 prior arrests going back to 2007, police sources said.

His cause of death is to be determined by the medical examiner.

The man was "obviously" the victim of a homicide, police said on Tuesday.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said the body was found wrapped in plastic bags near Sheepshead Bay at Oriental Boulevard in Manhattan Beach on Monday morning.

The man had several tattoos on his back, including the image of the Virgin Mary and a rose.

A student at nearby Kingsborough College discovered the body.

"It's a little crazy, especially in this area, for something like that to happen,"  former student Daniel D'Angelo said. "Especially near a college campus and everything. It's crazy."

No arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information about the killing should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
