Police are investigating after a body was found in a parking lot of a Long Island apartment complex.

The female body was discovered near a trash container outside The Birches complex in Bay Shore around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Suffolk County police provided no other details and only said the medical examiner will be conducting an autopsy. 

The discovery unnerved residents, who called the area "a quiet neighborhood."

"It's disgusting, it's a disgrace. I don't know what the world is coming to," said Eileen Pachecho.
