2 Suspects Wanted in Queens Attempted Robbery, Shooting

Police are looking for two men they say were caught on video apparently trying to snatch a chain from one of of two victims before shooting at them outside a Queens event hall.

The suspects approached the 26- and 29-year-old victims around 6:20 a.m. on Sunday near the event hall in Long Island City and tried to snatch a gold chain off one of the victims, the NYPD said.

A struggle ensued, and one of the suspects took out a firearm and shot the 29-year-old victim in the abdomen and thigh, police said.

Video of the shooting and robbery shows the two suspects, in hooded sweatshirts, loitering outside the restaurant before striking. They appear to wail on the two victims, dragging one to the ground before trying to pull off a large chain.

The victim with the chain tries to prevent the assailants from stealing the jewelry. When the footage ends, it is unclear if the suspects took the chain.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect, who they say are between 19 and 25. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
