Transgender Woman Found Strangled on Bed in Queens Apartment

Everything in apartment was destroyed, friend says

A transgender woman who friends hadn’t heard from since Friday was found dead in her Queens apartment Tuesday afternoon, and officials say she was strangled.

Early reports also indicated she may have been naked, reports the Daily News.

Police discovered the body of 29-year-old Edelbuerto Gonzalez Andujar, who identified as a woman and went by the name Amanda, face-down on the bed after a concerned acquaintance got the landlord to open the door for authorities around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Barbara Vega, a friend of the victim who told the News she was there when the landlord opened the door, said “everything” in the apartment was destroyed and that she believes someone killed her friend.

"She never had any problems with anybody. She was full of life," Vega said. "We need to know who did this to her."

Police said Wednesday afternoon that there were signs of a possible struggle in the victim's first-floor apartment. The disarray included posters of Marilyn Monroe that had been knocked off the wall.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide from compression of the neck.
