The major U.S. Olympic trials are under way through July 2 in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Live coverage of many events can be found on the NBC Sports Network, and selected videos will appear on NBCSports.com. Here's what you should watch Thursday June 21:
The event: Diving finals, women's 3m synchronized
When: 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET, NBC Sports Network
Where: Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
Ones to watch: Abby Johnston and Kelci Bryant own a slight lead over Kassidy Cook and Christina Loukas going into the 3m synchronized final at the U.S. Olympic diving trials. Johnston and Bryant totaled 637.80 points through the preliminaries and semifinals Sunday on opening night of the eight-day trials.
Abby Johnston, 22, began diving in 2002 and was born in Columbus, Ohio. Previously a gymnast (she had to quit due to a back injury), Johnston is enrolled in a pre-med program and has interned in the brain tumor clinic at Duke Hospital in North Carolina. She partners with Kelci Brant in the synchronized 3m, and the pair placed first at the 2012 USA Diving Winter National Championships and fourth in the same event at the 2012 FINA World Cup.
The youngest of five children, Kelci Bryant, 23, hails from Chatham, Ill. and placed fourth in the synchronized 3m at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing alongside Ariel Rittenhouse (now retired). Bryant is enrolled at the University of Minnesota and her club team is Minnesota Diving.
What happens: The top two finishers in each individual event will go to London.
