Just when it seemed everyone had stopped talking about Miley Cyrus' performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, the singer with a fondness for twerking and tongues has landed back in the headlines.
Only this time it's a different kind of viewing that's creating all the fuss.
Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" video has broken a record by earning the most views on Vevo in a 24-hour period. The clip (see below) racked up over 19 million views since its online debut Monday, almost double the previous record held by One Direction's "Best Song Ever" with 10.9 million views.
At publication time "Wrecking Ball" had broken through 24 million views and showed no signs of stopping.
Directed by fashion photographer and visual provocateur Terry Richardson, the video features Cyrus licking a sledgehammer, caressing an oversized metal chain and riding a wrecking ball while naked. "Wrecking Ball" is the second single off Cyrus' upcoming album, "Bangerz," due Oct. 8.
Cyrus, who will mark her 21st birthday in November, announced the viewing record on Twitter, giving props to her fans for all the online love and support:
Y'all did went so above and beyond with wrecking ball :) I love you so much and thank you for breaking the vevo record!!!

Cyrus' dad, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, weighed in on his daughters video soon after it was released Monday. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, he tweeted:
