"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife," Chenoweth said in a statement. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern." People first reported the news of Chenoweth's exit.

Chenoweth will still appear in The Good Wife's season four premiere, set to air on Monday, Sept. 30. There is a possibility for the star to return in the future.

Good Wife star Christine Baranski recently talked about Chenoweth's injury at CBS' TCA press tour with our Kristin Dos Santos, saying, "Oh, we were all very concerned. I know she's maybe filming this week because she has quite a few episodes and a marvelous role. But she seemed superexcited to be on the show. It really was a fluke. Sudden gust of wind, and of course she's a sparrow. She was a sparrow in heels that high [makes an imaginary platform with her hands], and she just went flunk [gestures toward the ground]. No, we look forward to having her back. I think she's doing well."
