Jennifer Lopez broke down in tears while performing at the Mohegan Sun's 15th anniversary celebration on Saturday in Connecticut. Lopez talks about her weepy moment. "I'm just a regular person like everybody else. I have feelings and emotions" Lopez says. For more exclusive videos go to ExtraTV.com
Jennifer Lopez may, as she claims in a new Fiat commercial, be "inspired by" the Bronx streets where she was raised, but don't expect her to actually fly there.
The singer and actress is drawing heat over a new commericial for the Fiat 500, which shows her driving through the Bronx - the titular "block" she claims will always be her home in her hit single "Jenny from the Block" - while calling it "my world" and saying, "This place inspires me to be tougher, to stay sharper, to think faster. They may be just streets to you, but to me, they're a playground."
The only problem? Lopez never set foot in her hometown.
The Smoking Gun has learned that a double actually sat in for Lopez during the New York leg of the filming, and that the diva herself filmed her portion of the commercial on a studio lot in Los Angeles. She was then digitally edited into the spot.
DIana Gutierrez, a spokesperson for Fiat, failed to see the problem with the digital trickery.
“We took the opportunity to film wherever Ms. Lopez was working at the time to accommodate her schedule," says Gutierrez. "One does not need to be in a specific location to be inspired or continue to be inspired.”
Not helping matters was Lopez's choice to include a garish bit of product placement during her performance at the American Music Awards last weekend. Lopez arrived onstage inside a Fiat 500, and the car sat behind her throughout her number.
