Fans of the graffiti-splattered J Brand skinny jeans in Proenza Schouler's Fall 2010 runway show have been waiting patiently for the it-denim to become available, and now pairs are finally online.
That said, we were rather surprised to see that the pairs come with a serious price tag -- $550 (who says high-end denim is dead?) -- and some very meticulous washing instructions: The pairs are to be hand-washed only, because the jeans are actually hand-painted, making each different and unique. On the one hand, the hand-painted quality certainly ups the value of the garment and goes a long way towards justifying the price tag, but those ladies with a tendency to wear the heck out of their jeans during the fall should likely beware.
