Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibit to Open at Brooklyn Museum

Next year, the Brooklyn Museum will be the only East Coast venue to host the gangbusters Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition that debuted in Canada last summer, WWD reports.

With more than 140 couture and ready-to-wear pieces—as well as personal sketches and even a handful of Madonna's stage costumes—the exhibit emphasizes Gaultier's avant garde approach to high fashion.

In a style-obsessed city like New York, the exhibit—which will run from Oct. 25, 2013, through to Feb. 23, 2014—is sure to be a boon for the Brooklyn Museum, which will incorporate new elements including recent runway looks by the designer. Currently in Madrid, the show has already attracted over 500,000 visitors.
