Doo-Ri Chung is the latest designer to create an affordable diffusion line for Macy's "Impulse" collection, joining the ranks of Giambattista Vali, Karl Lagerfeld and Rachel Roy.

Known for her comfortable, understated aesthetic (often articulated on the runway in flattering jersey dresses and cool, drapey separates), Chung's signature look is likely to translate well for Macy's target customer.

For "Impulse," Chung will design a series of simple trench coats, wearable jersey dresses and a smattering of separates in funky, geometric prints with prices hovering between $39 and $159.

With any luck, the collection's eight-week stint on the racks (which kicks off in February of next year) will increase brand recognition for the relatively new label, which continues to float on the fringes of the fashion world in spite of Chung's serious design talent.
