Gilt Groupe and Rue La La are about to get some competition -- massive local sales and events site DailyCandy has announced plans to launch a sample sale site called Swirl that will sell hand-picked pieces at up to 80 percent off.
As Racked points out, DailyCandy has an edge over the competition in the form of its editors -- each piece for sale will have been featured on the site or will have been hand-selected by the DailyCandy editors.
Much like Gilt or Rue La La, the sales will be open to DailyCandy members (a.k.a. subscribers), though you can sign up for the new site now -- they're even giving away $100 Swirl gift cards for the 100 lucky early sign-ups.
Clearly, online sample sales are becoming one of the most profitable businesses out there -- Gilt Groupe has expanded into Fuse, Men, and Jetsetter in under a year; and Rue La La just sold for a whopping $350 million.
