Kelly Cutrone: Women Are Programmed to "Follow the Disney Princesses"

Kelly Cutrone has a reputation as one of the toughest chicks in the industry -- but the fashion PR powerhouse revealed last night at her Manhattan book signing that she also has some serious perspective.

"I really believe that women are programmed in the United States,” Cutrone, 44, said during the signing of her new tome "If You Have to Cry, Go Outside" at the Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble on Tuesday night.

“Follow the Disney princesses and then become the prettiest and the most successful girl. ... Get a really good job and find a really hot guy to marry you, and lock him down. Make him sandwiches, and have sex with him everywhere to get what you want."

The event comes one day after the premiere of her Bravo reality TV show "Kell On Earth" -- starring the PR powerhouse and her company, People's Revolution. Cutrone's daughter Ava, 7, sat in the front row as her mom addressed the crowd.

"She's wearing her ["If You Have To Cry"] t-shirt. She's in marketing now," the author joked before talking about her humble beginnings.

"[When I started out] I didn't know what silverware to use. There would be four extra spoons, one North of my plate. ... I'd run into the bathroom for a payphone and call my mother, and she would be like, 'I don't know what to tell you.'"

Through past experiences and her push towards the future -- working with the new generation of fashion elite -- Cutrone's no-bull approach is ultimately inspirational for the young women she surrounds herself with.
