Bundle Up! More Frost Alerts for Parts NY Area — But It Warms Up For Start of Weekend

NBCUniversal Media, LLC

Keep the jacket handy, it'll be needed for one more cold morning.

While it'll be better than last night, expect to wake up to more chilly weather Thursday.

No freeze warnings are in place for overnight, which is already an improvement over how Wednesday started. But there are some frost advisories scattered throughout the tri-state, some in central New Jersey and others up in the Hudson Valley into Connecticut.

Highs on Thursday stay in the 50s, though it will be upper 50s at least. Still, a jacket will be called for (it's October, what did you expect?) even with the sun out. It'll warm up slightly more Friday and again Saturday, which will be downright pleasant for this time of year, as temperatures will reach the mid 60s.

It's even better news, especially for those in parts of New Jersey: By the weekend we could see a few 70-degree temperatures across interior NJ. That means Saturday looks to be perfect weather for Astros-Yankees at the Stadium.

Temperatures will stay above average through the middle of next week, but our sunny days will give way to clouds and a few chances for rain. At this point it looks like the next chance of the latter is Sunday, dealing a glancing blow that will bring rain showers to the area during the afternoon and could linger into Monday. So stay tuned.
