For us, the music of Brooklyn-based girl trio Au Revoir Simone has long been one of the unofficial soundtracks of summer: The lo-fi, sweetly melancholic synthpop made by by Erika Forster, Annie Hart and Heather D'Angelo makes you want to stroll down the Coney boardwalk or sit on the fire escape until the fireflies come out.
We're excited that their new album Still Night, Still Light came out two days ago (i.e., just in time to play on repeat at your Memorial Day barbecue), but we're downright reeling from their wallet-friendly promotional stint: Download the new disc for $7.98, and you'll get all three of Au Revoir Simone's previous albums (Reverse Migration, Verses of Comfort, Assurance and Salvation, and The Bird of Music, a.k.a. the record that put them on the map) absolutely free. Which works out to something like 16 cents a song -- a pretty great price for the soundtrack to an entire season.
