Only in Greenpoint. It turns out that the hot kielbasa being sold at the Sikorski Meat Market on Manhattan Ave. (well, out of the basement) wouldn't have done well in frying pan but was ideal for ingesting in, uh, other ways. (Sikorski, by the way, was actually known as a primo butcher shop.) Twenty-six people were busted for conspiring to "distribute large quantities of cocaine from locations in Greenpoint and Williamsburg." The butcher would (insert obligatory word "alledgedly") say: “Come to the store, I have hot kielbasa for you.” Whatever happened to I have the ski lift tickets? Oh, wait, that's code phrase at the travel agency. [Brooklyn Eagle]
