Chinese star Yi Jianlian, acquired in a trade in the offseason from Milwaukee, added 17 points and six boards for the Nets. Jarvis Hayes had 14 points and Devin Harris added 13 in the win.
DeShawn Stevenson and Antawn Jamison each scored 14 points for the Wizards, who opened the season without the injured Gilbert Arenas. Caron Butler had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in defeat.
