Rangers 5, Capitals 4: Thanks to his two-goal effort on Wednesday night, Mike Green has now scored in seven straight games which ties an NHL record for consecutive games with a goal by a defenseman. During the current streak Green has tallied nine goals and seven assists. He's simply on a different planet right now.
As for the game itself, despite Green's efforts, the Capitals dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to the Rangers. Ryan Callahan scored his 13th goal of the season in regulation for New York, and then added the game-winner in the fourth-round of the shootout.
Devils 4, Islanders 2:Zach Parise and Jamie Langenbrunner each scored a pair of goals for the Devils in their 4-2 win over the Islanders. Aside from his two-goal effort, Parise also assisted on each of Langenbrunner's as New Jersey picked up its second win in a row.
Blackhawks 3, Thrashers 1: On the same day reports came out that the Thrashers will not be tradingIlya Kovalchuck, the captain picked up his 24th goal of the season for Atlanta. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Thrashers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Blackhawks. Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 36 shots for Chicago, while Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews and Dave Bolland provided the offense.
Penguin 2, Sharks 1: Biggest win of the season for the Penguins? Certainly possible. Sidney Crosby scored the game-winner in the shootout as the Penguins pulled out an important 2-1 win against San Jose. Marc-Andre Fleury was fantastic in net for the Penguins, stopping 36-of-37 shots through overtime, and all three he faced in the shootout. The good news continued on Wednesday for the Penguins as Sergei Gonchar was cleared to return to action.
Senators 3, Sabres 1: It seems that whenever the Sabres and Senators get together something completely bizarre just has to happen. Sometimes it's a line brawl, sometimes somebody takes a bite out of their opponent. On Wednesday? How about a triple-minor to Senators defenseman Jason Smith for roughing Patrick Kaleta. He also received a 10-minute misconduct. Ottawa was able to pick up the 3-1 win, as the Sabres dropped their first game without Thomas Vanek.

Wild 3, Avalanche 2:Antti Miettinen scored the game-winner with 1:11 to play in regulation to lead Minnesota to a 3-2 win over Colorado.
Coyotes 1, Stars 0: Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 33 shots he faced in a 1-0 Coyotes victory in Dallas. Enver Lisin picked up the game's only goal, his ninth of the season, at the 2:19 mark of the second period.
Ducks 3, Flames 2:Scott Niedermayer scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to help lead the Ducks to a 3-2 win against Calgary.
Oilers 7, Canadiens 2: Montreal gets blown out again, this time in Edmonton as seven different Oilers score in a 7-2 rout.
