Brodeur leaves game with bruised elbow

Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - New Jersey Devilsgoaltender Martin Brodeur left Saturday's game against Atlanta with a bruised left elbow.

Brodeur skated off the ice in the second period. He first appeared to hurt his elbow reaching for a shot and soon after fell to the ice clutching his left arm.

The four-time Vezina Trophy winner has started each of New Jersey's 10 games this season. He stopped all five shots he faced Saturday before exiting and was credited with the victory, leaving him seven wins shy of Patrick Roy's all-time mark of 551.

Kevin Weekes replaced Brodeur in the New Jersey net, as the Devils polished off the Thrashers with a 6-1 rout. Weekes made 14 saves.

After the game there was no word on whether Brodeur would be ready when the Devils host Buffalo on Monday.

Brodeur has made 56 straight starts for New Jersey.
