Khaddafy's Son Swears His Innocence

Saif al-Islam Khaddafy, the fugitive son of Libya's deceased leader, has insisted to the International Criminal Court that he is innocent of crimes against humanity, the court's prosecutor said Saturday. Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said his office has had informal contact with Saif al-Islam, his late father's heir apparent, through intermediaries and is seeking to arrest him on charges related to the Libyan civil war. According to Reuters, the 39-year-old Khaddafy scion is currently trying to negotiate a way to fly safely to the Hague to deliver himself to the war crimes court's custody. Currently, he is reportedly in refuge with Saharan nomads; the Libyan National Transitional Council, which took power after toppling the senior Khaddafy's regime, said it believed he was in Niger, fearing for his safety in light of his father's killing at the hands of Libyan fighters.
