The Long Island woman who was hit by a car while mowing her lawn Sunday morning has died, police said.
Suffolk County police said 62-year-old Valerie Fahie was taken to the hospital in critical condition after she was hit on Maple Avenue near Winston Drive in Shirley. She died a day later.
The 36-year-old driver who hit her was not injured and no charges were filed against him.
Neighbors told Newsday Fahie had tried for years to have four-way stop signs posted at the intersection near her home.
