Teen Fatally Stabbed at Brooklyn Bus Stop: NYPD

A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a street in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn Wednesday evening, police say.

The teenage victim, who was identified as Jovani Cubias, had gotten into a dispute with another teen at a bus stop in front of Sternberg Park, near Lorimer Street and Montrose Avenue, according to police. The suspect stabbed him, then fled.

Cubias was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A box cutter was left on the ground where the stabbing happened.

Police believe Cubias knew his attacker but the motive is unclear.

"It's just ridiculous how kids so young is committing crimes of this nature, kids so young getting killed, probably over something stupid," said neighbor Rashad White.

"I've lived here for a year, across the street, and this is the first time this has happened in the neighorbood," said Caitlin Rankel.

Police were continuing to investigate at the scene. They said they'll look at nearby surveillance cameras.
