A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach after he refused to give a man a beer near the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in lower Manhattan over the weekend, authorities say.

Police say the suspect walked up to the teenager at Whitehall and South streets shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday and asked for a beer. When he was denied, he used some unknown object to stab the teenager in the abdomen and ran into the South Ferry subway station, authorities say.

The victim was taken to a hospital stable condition. It wasn't clear if he would be ticketed for underage drinking.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect in the area at the time of the attack. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
