Stamford, Connecticut, Man Sentenced for Dumping 7 Million Pounds of Sewage in City Sewers

A judge is preventing sewage disposal company from operating in a Stamford neighborhood after residents complained of illegal dumping.

The Stamford Advocate reports Stright Sewage Disposal owner Robert Aillery was ordered to pay more than $100,000 Thursday in state Superior Court. He must also give up a zoning variance that allowed him to run his business out of his home.

An arrest affidavit says the 58-year-old was caught dumping more than 7 million pounds of waste water and raw sewage into the city's sewage system between August 2012 and March 2014.

He pleaded guilty to larceny and discharging of sewage without a permit under the Alford Doctrine, meaning he disagreed with the state's facts but understood he would probably be convicted at trial.
