Man Stabbed in Dispute on 6 Train Platform at 59th Street-Lexington

Authorities say a man was stabbed after a dispute Thursday on the southbound platform of the no. 6 train at the 59th Street and Lexington Avenue station.

FDNY says the man was stabbed in the arm. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was stabbed after an argument, and a suspect fled the station.

Investigators think both men knew each other, but that was little comfort for some subway riders at the busy station.

"It's pretty scary," said Joelle Guirma of East New York, who was waiting for a train to take her  to school. "You can't be safe anywhere."

Danny Lee of East Meadow in Nassau County is not a regular subway rider but wasn't fazed by the stabbing, and characterized it as an isolated incident.

"I feel safe," he said. "I know there's a lot of transit cops down here."

Police are investigating.
