“Sopranos” Actor Murder Trial Starts Nov. 17

"Sopranos" actor Lillo Brancato Jr.'s murder trial is set to start days after his co-defendant is sentenced.

A Nov. 17 trial date was set Friday for Brancato. He is charged in the December 2005 slaying of off-duty New York City police Officer Daniel Enchautegui (En-chow-TAY'-gee).

Brancato's trial was initially set for late October but was pushed back as a Bronx court tried co-defendant Steven Armento. Armento was convicted Oct. 30 of first-degree murder. He faces life in prison without parole at his Nov. 14 sentencing.

Authorities say Enchautegui confronted Armento and Brancato when the two broke into an apartment to steal prescription drugs. After Armento shot Enchautegui, the dying officer fired back and wounded both men.

Brancato has said he didn't know Armento had a gun.

The 32-year-old actor played an aspiring mobster in HBO's "The Sopranos."
