Slain Woman's Online Stalker Pleads ‘Not Guilty'

Suspect pleaded not guilty in daytime slaying

A man suspected of ambushing and stabbing a woman he met online has been charged with second-degree murder in her death.

Raymond Dennis pleaded not guilty on Friday and is being held in jail. His next court date is May 19. Nimzay Aponte, 23, was stabbed to death at a Bronx park Tuesday as she sat with a friend during a break from a job fair, police said.

Police say she told police before she died that "Mike" did it, referring to a person she met on AOL's instant messaging service.

Investigators tracked Dennis down, who went by that name on the service, police said. The two met once in person, but she didn't want a relationship with him, police said.

Aponte's 25-year-old male companion was also stabbed in the arm and is expected to recover. Dennis also pleaded not guilty to assault in that stabbing.
