An 80-year-old woman was struck and killed by a school bus in the Bronx, the NYPD says.

The bus hit the woman near Boston Road and Louis Nine Boulevard in Charlotte Gardens at around 6 p.m. Monday, police said.

She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the NYPD said. Police didn't immediately release the woman's name.

The 52-year-old bus driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged, police said. No children were on the bus. 

Traffic was detoured around the crash as authorities investigated. Police didn't immediately release additional details about the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
