Police say they've caught a suspect in a string of six muggings in Central Park, on Fifth Avenue and midtown Manhattan.
The New York Police Department says officers arrested 55-year-old Cecil Richardson Friday on robbery and other charges.
No telephone number could immediately be found for Richardson's Manhattan address. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
Police say the muggings happened between April 10 and Wednesday. The victims handed over amounts ranging from $18 to $300.
The NYPD says plainclothes officers saw Richardson accost someone outside a Fifth Avenue store and demand money Friday morning.
Police say he hopped into a cab in an unsuccessful effort to elude them. They chased it on foot and caught up when it got stuck in traffic.
