21-Year-Old Man Stabbed to Death in Brooklyn: NYPD

The NYPD says a 21-year-old man is dead after he was stabbed in Brooklyn.

Police were called to a reported assault on Livonia Avenue in East New York just before 11 p.m. When they arrived they found the victim with a stab wound to his stomach or chest. 

He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police say a 21-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and a weapon was recovered. 

Authorities didn't immediately identify the victim or the suspect. The stabbing occurred at or near a homeless shelter for youth. It's unknown if the victim or suspect live at the shelter. 

It's unclear what led up to the stabbing.
