A New Jersey man fatally beat a 6-month-old Husky puppy with a kitchen chair during a fight with another man, authorities said.
Wayne police told NJ.com that 23-year-old township resident John Varcadipone was charged with aggravated assault and animal cruelty resulting in death. His bail was set at $75,000. It wasn't known Monday if he had retained an attorney.
The charges stemmed from a fight that occurred Friday morning at a home in Wayne. Responding officers found the dog's body inside the home.
It's not clear what prompted the fight or what allegedly caused Varcadipone to attack the dog.
Varcadipone was arrested at a hospital where he had sought treatment for injuries suffered in the fight.
