Ex-Councilman Seeking Another Term Accused of Improperly Touching Teenage Boy

Prosecutors say a former municipal official who is running for office again this year is now accused of improperly touching a teenage boy.

Daniel Toth, of Brick, is charged with criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.

Ocean County prosecutors say the 38-year-old Toth was charged after the 15-year-old boy reported the alleged incident to Jackson police on Monday. They say Toth voluntarily met with police that day before the charges were filed.

Toth was released after posting $100,000 cash bail. A telephone number for him could not be located Tuesday.

A married father of two daughters, Toth served on the Brick Township Council for eight years. He did not seek re-election in 2013, when he unsuccessfully sought the Republican Party's mayoral nomination.

Toth is seeking another council term.
