Man Sentenced in Fatal Queens Robbery

A 26-year-old man has been convicted of fatally shooting a man in the head after tying his hands and feet with electrical cords during a 2013 robbery in Queens.

A jury Thursday found 26-year-old Stephen Peters, of Queens, guilty of murder, kidnapping, arson and other crimes.

Prosecutors say Peters and an accomplice went to the apartment of 43-year-old Azeem Ali, tied him up and forced him to give up his bank card and PIN number.

Peters then shot the bound victim three times in the head and set his body and apartment on fire with gasoline.

Prosecutors say Peters withdrew $100 from Ali's ATM card, but was unsuccessful when he tried it at another ATM.

He faces up to 41 years to life in prison.

His accomplice is awaiting trial.
