Police are looking for a man who allegedly shot a stranger in the back when he intervened in an argument the gunman was having with a woman on a sidewalk in Queens last week.
The suspect was in the area of Roosevelt Avenue and Elbertson Street in Elmhurst at about 4:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16 when the victim saw him arguing with a woman, according to police.
The victim stepped in, and as he turned to walk away, the man fired several shots, hitting the victim several times in the back.
The shooter fled the scene with two women, video shows; it's not clear if either of them was the one with whom he'd been arguing.
The 32-year-old victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition, according to police.
Anyone who recognizes any of the people in the video is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
