A 27-year-old man is dead after a shootout with police in New Jersey early Saturday, authorities said.
Diahlo Grant was in Somerset when he encountered two uniformed Franklin Township police officers who followed him into New Brunswick, where there was an exchange of gunfire at around 1:30 a.m., according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
Grant was declared dead about two hours later at the hospital, officials said. The prosecutor's office is investigating.
Grant's gun was found at the scene, the prosecutor's office said.
Grant had previously had warrants issued for non-payment of child support and violation of probation on a drug charge, the prosecutor's office said.
