Mahopac middle and high schools were briefly put on lockdown on Thursday, the first day of school, due to police activity in the area.
The lockdown was reported around 10 a.m. and lifted shortly after as police apprehended a suspect who was in the vicinity of the schools, the Mahopac superintendent's office said. Police sought the suspect for something completely unrelated to schools, the superintendent's office said.
