1. Sources: Fish Odor Eyed in Sudden Death of 11-Year-Old Boy

Authorities are investigating the apparent sudden food allergy-related death of an 11-year-old boy in Brooklyn, and law enforcement sources confirmed to News 4 that detectives are looking into whether the smell of cooking fish could have triggered a reaction.

Cops were called to the 82nd Street home of Camron Jean-Pierre around dinner time on New Year's Day. They found the boy unconscious.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was found dead.

2. 6th Major NY, NJ Lotto Jackpot in 10 Months Kicks Off 2019

Just one winning ticket for the $425 million jackpot in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing was sold -- and once again, the big winner was purchased in New York, according to the state lottery.

The ticket was sold on Long Island at Brookville Auto Service Shop in Glen Head.

The New Year's Day drawing was the eighth-largest jackpot in the history of the game. The cash option for the jackpot is $254.6 million.

3. Don't Try This At Home: Netflix Warns Fans Off of 'Bird Box' Challenge

Seems like just about everything inspires a social media challenge these days. But Netflix is warning fans of its new Sandra Bullock film "Bird Box" not to partake in the newest craze by the film that could lead to a few bumps and bruises at home.

For those that haven't watched the film the premise involves Bullock's character trying to lead herself and her children to safety all while traveling blindfolded, unless they come upon an entity that has driven much of the population to commit suicide upon seeing it.

The film has been compared by some to the 2018 horror hit "A Quiet Place" which had a similar sensory deprivation element.
