1. Man Hiding in Restaurant Freezer Attacks Employees, Dies: Police

Workers at a popular Upper West Side restaurant discovered a man hiding in the freezer Sunday morning who attacked them with a knife before he ended up dead, police said.

Employees at Sarabeth's Restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue and 80th Street went into the freezer at about 11 a.m., the NYPD said. The restaurant had been open for three hours at that time.

Inside, they found a 54-year-old emotionally disturbed man, officers said.

The man grabbed a knife and started attacking the workers, police said, but the employees were able to disarm him. Then the man had a medical episode and later died.

2. Baby Found in East River, Man Jumps in Trying to Save Him: Witness

A baby was found floating in the East River on Sunday afternoon, and a tourist who saw the child jumped into the water and brought the boy ashore, witnesses said.

The baby didn't survive, the NYPD said. He appeared to be about 8 months old and was wearing only a diaper.

The baby was discovered near the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge just after 4 p.m., said Diana Campbell, who was visiting from Stillwater, Oklahoma.

A backpack was floating near the baby, she said. It was also recovered.

No parent or guardian was present, police said.

3. Demi Lovato Breaks Her Silence Nearly Two Weeks After Overdose

Nearly two weeks after suffering a drug overdose, Demi Lovato is reaching out with a message to her many supporters.

In a lengthy statement posted to her Instagram on Sunday afternoon, the 25-year-old pop star broke her silence for the first time.

"I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction," she writes. "What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."

Lovato thanks God for "keeping me alive and well," and tells fans their "positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time."
