Police are investigating human remains found near the site of the Woodbury Commons outlet mall in Central Valley.
The remains were discovered about two to three weeks ago by mall workers, according to Woodbury Town Police Chief Richard Vasquez. The bones, human skull and some articles of clothing were found about 50 feet into the woods near a parking lot.
It wasn't until the workers showed their supervisors pictures they'd taken on their cell phones Thursday that police were called.
Police met the workers at the scene and determined the remains have been there for "well over a year," according to Vasquez.
Vasquez said the victim appeared to be small in stature but the age, gender and other identifying features could not immediately be determined.
