Traffic was severely backed up on the southbound Garden State Parkway in Wall Township as emergency responders attended to an accident that injured two people, authorities say.
New Jersey state police said two cars were involved in a serious crash at about mile post 96.3.
Chopper 4 over the scene showed traffic getting by on a shoulder. Traffic was backed up from exit 98 through exit 100 in Neptune Township.
Police said a woman in a flatbed truck was critically injured; she was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in a medical helicopter.
A man in the other vehicle involved in the crash had a minor leg injury, police said.
