Ships Parade Into New York Harbor to Mark Beginning of Fleet Week

The annual Fleet Week is bringing a flotilla of activities

It's "hello sailor" time in New York City.

The annual Fleet Week is bringing a flotilla of activities.

A parade of ships sailed up the Hudson River on Wednesday and docked around the city.

Among them: the USS Bataan, a state-of-the-art amphibious assault ship.

The Bataan passed below the Verrazano Bridge and moments later service men and women were rendering honors near the 9/11 Memorial.

Many of the events will be held at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

The events continue through Memorial Day.
