Police Officer Injured Rescuing People From New Jersey Fire

A police officer suffered smoke inhalation injuries while helping rescue people from a fire in New Jersey Tuesday.

Authorities said the officer was hurt while getting people out of the residential fire on Hackensack Plank Road in Weehawken. The officer was expected to be fine.

Several families were displaced and the building will have to be torn down, officials said.

The fire went to five alarms as firefighters had difficulty with snowy and icy conditions.
