A 28-year-old woman was shot to death in her Bronx apartment early Tuesday while her 6-year-old son was in the house, and authorities say they're looking for the child's father as a suspect.
Officers were called Shoshane Rattigan's second-floor apartment on Bogart Avenue and found her unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the NYPD. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the Rattigan's 6-year-old son was in the house at the time of the shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman's estranged boyfriend -- also the child's father -- is suspected in the slaying.
Police say that the suspect left the home after the shooting, possibly in a Honda minivan.
The child was unharmed in the shooting, but was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
