Man Follows Women into Buildings. Robs Them at Gunpoint: NYPD

Police are searching for a man who's been allegedly stalking and robbing women at gunpoint inside Manhattan apartment buildings.

Five robberies linked to the suspect have been reported over the past month, all but one happening inside apartment buildings, according to police.

The suspect follows the victims into buildings and then robs them, police say. In one case, the man forced the victim into her own home before he took her money and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

In another robbery, police said the suspect robbed the victim at gunpoint in the back of Gristedes grocery store.

Police said the man usually goes after women near their homes, shows a gun -- or says he has one -- and then robs them.

Authorities have released a surveillance video still of the suspect from when he allegedly tried to use a credit card he stole from a victim in Harlem.

Police are connecting the suspect to robberies in the Upper East Side, the Lower East Side and the West Village. Four of the victims are in theirs 20s; a fifth was 71 years old.
